My Mom called this American Chow Mein. I would be afraid that the macaroni would get soggy and split if it cooked that long! Delicious! It’s totally possible to make it the morning of, but the overnight in the fridge really does something extra for it.

This recipe looks amazing!

Also added a couple other spice blends, and skipped the soy. Not sure… You could always cook it for less time or not at all after you add the pasta. Yes, they all vary in terms of ingredients. My mom used to make it just like this and it was delicious and it's how I make it too. But if you’re looking for a goulash recipe that screams BURGER, try our hamburger goulash recipe! Thank you so much for posting this recipe. So I hope someone else on here can help.

Top with your choice of cheddar cheese or whatever you like.. bake at 350 till hot & cheese is melted..(not long).. When I lower the heat to low after coming to a boil and let the goulash simmer for 20 min. I followed it exactly, with the exception of a few fresh green bean, and it was amazing! LOL I just leave it plain ol goulash!

I use Lawry’s most often but others will work just fine. This is almost exactly what my mom makes. I grew up on this and still make it today. I have eaten this my whole life, when you grow up poor and in a big family you eat a lot of stew type stuff.

Do you have any suggestions on what I can replace the rest with? This recipe was delicious.

to die for!
