Three Mexican design proposals were selected for this year’s Prix Versailles: Chablé Resort, by Jorge Borja and Paulina Morán; Mar Adentro, by Miguel Ángel Aragonés, and the flagship store of Massimo Dutti in Mexico City, by Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos.
These last two people received a special mention in the categories of hotels and stores, respectively, while the first one, located in Yucatán, obtained the first place in the category of hotels of North America.
This international award, promoted by UNESCO and the International Union of Architects, is awarded to the best commercial project proposals in six major regions within four categories: shops, shopping centers, hotels and restaurants.
In its third edition the jury consists of François de Mazières, Manuelle Gautrand, Guo Pei, Toyo Ito, Gilles Lipovetsky, Guy Savoy, Wang Shu and Minja Yang.
The winners of each region will compete for the world award, which will be announced on May 12 at UNESCO headquarters.
